Will run from any human's hand.
Will fear rats it does not know (or even ones it does know).
Will be submissive to its cagemates, and most likely bullied by them.
Will eat last or alone.
Will sleep alone or with other submissive rats.
Will hide in its nest most of the day.
Will only bite out of fear.
The "Normal" / Tame Rat
Will not run from any human hand or will run to it.
Will curiously investigate rats it does not know.
Will not be submissive to nor dominate its cagemates.
Will eat with the other rats.
Will play in its waking hours and sleep in the same nest as its cagemates.
Will not bite unless severely provoked or injured.
The Dominant / Aggressive Rat
Will bite a human hand.
Will attack or dominate strange rats.
Will dominate its cagemates and bully them.
Will eat first and may take food from others.
Will spend a lot of time marking territory (if male) or re-arranging the nesting material and bedding (if female).
Will often bite for apparently no reason.
